Bleeding edge technology that delivered inferior multiplatform games and ZERO AAA exclusive titles in its first year....
At least Microsoft delivered numerous killer games before it ever dropped the price on the Xbox360....
All this tells me is that SONY was arrogant, and their head honcho quotes tell as much...
"The first five million are going to buy it (PS3), whatever it is, even [if] it didn't have games."
- David Reeves, Sony ...
I agree that 2008 will be a much more positive year for SONY.... but...
That kinda sucks....
two price drops later, what have the loyal early adopters got to show for their brand loyalty???
A decent Blu Ray movie collection and at least $100 they will never get back thanks to both of the first year PS3 price drops....
I know Microsoft really dropped the ball on the Xbox360 with the whole RROD thing, but they manned up and compensated people ...
The numbers, again, tell a bad news story...
Gaming is more popular and mainstream than ever before.
All of the "kids" that grew up on video games are now young adults with disposable income.
So, the fact that the PS3 has sold SIGNIFICANTLY less than the PS2 did at this stage in its life is a very telling statistic.
With the HUGE customer base the PS2 built, the PS3 should have EASILY sold double the amount of consoles that it has....
I think you've compiled a pretty unbiasd list, but I think a game like Warhawk or Assassin's Creed would bump Ratchet & Clank from the list IMO.
I'm not generally into "kiddie" games, but Super Mario Galaxy is such a solid game, it's impossible to hate it if you enjoy platformers at all.
It is almost as amazing to me as Super Mario 64 was the first time I played it. It deserves the #1 spot.
Ratchet + Clank.... above Halo 3?
I'm not a Halo fanbot, but I do remember seeing all of those 90%+ review scores for Halo 3 when it was released... Ratchet & Clank didn't do so hot...
Mass Effect Doesn't Live Up to its Hype

As for the review... well... I have a hard time taking a review TOO seriously whenever the site name is followed by "Fanboy"
I know that the name was probably picked because it gets hits, and there was probably some tongue-in-cheek humor behind it.
But whether it is 360fanboy, or PS3fanboy, the bias is hard to ignore...
Oh, Matt Peckman, of PC World... of course...
We've all been waiting for this review...
And as for all of these claims of "Over Hyped"
The only hype that was generated was from people who got to play some early builds of the game.
This game is not plastered all over the television like Halo 3 was. If you don't read up on games online, you may not even know about this one.
So, maybe Mr. Peckerhead just overhyped it i...
To the best of my knowledge, I've never been beaten by a girl online. I've run across quite a few while playing Rainbox Six: Vegas, and a few while playing Halo 3... And I do believe I virtually beat their a55e5.
Not to say there aren't good girl gamers out there, it's just that in my personal experience and HUMBLE PERSONAL OPINION there aren't many that are good at competitive action or fps games....
Now... if we're talking about BEJEWELED....
I'll definitely play this game.
I loved the movies. Great combination of comedy and action.
It looks like they built the game on nearly the same engine specs that Gears of War used. Right down to the camera position. Not that it's bad thing at all, just an observation.
It makes sense that with the obvious success of the Wii around the world, you will have more Wii fans than not. And when it comes to Mario, who doesn't like Mario.
So, you have a lot of reviewers that are already in love with the Wii, so when they look at Super Mario Galaxy compared to what they've been enjoying on the Wii, it's easy to see why they are going bananas.
Now, holding that up against the rest of the industry, and the amazing graphics that the PS3 an...
It could be a sweet feature...
The original Halo had LAN (system link) multiplayer...
If they could use that functionality and expand it to Xbox Live multiplayer, this could be an awesome service.
The Xbox Live Arcade has already released some classics and enabled online play. Imagine if they could do the same with some original XBOX games that didn't have online play when they were first released/
It certainly doesn't sell me on this DEAD ISLAND game...
Since I've never heard of it, I look forward to some big AAA franchises using this modeling technology
This is one thing that I definitely commend SONY for. There is a lot of freedom and customization that you can do with the PS3 that you've not been able to do with other consoles without hacking them.
I just wish we could get some more top shelf exclusive games.
Reading the rave reviews about this game has been the first time that I've actually contemplated purchasing a Wii...
All of the motion gimmicks were not really appealing to me, but its seems to me that EVERYONE who plays SMG is blown away and ranking it near the top of their list of all-time favorite games.
Who has played it already?
Has anyone here played it and NOT liked it?
Crimson Skies was a great game.
I wonder if they have worked on adding any additional functionality to these old XBOX games?
They managed to work online co-op and multiplayer into some of the arcade classics. It'd be nice if we could get some online co-op or multiplayer for the original Halo over Xbox Live....
Probably just wishful thinking
Without an online multiplayer component, or talks of DLC in the future, I'm afraid this one will only be a rental for me...
That's not to say it won't be an AMAZING game, because I'm sure it will, but my purchasing dollars will be spent on Call of Duty 4 because of its replayability, not on Assassin's Creed.
While competition is good for consumers most of the time, it's a bad thing when they are different formats in competition. It leaves the consumer hanging out to dry while they duke it out for supremacy.
I haven't bought a standalone HD-DVD player or Blu Ray player yet, although I do have a PS3.
Honestly, I've only sprung for about 5 Blu Ray Movies because my standard DVDs look fantastic when played on an upconverting DVD player...
Hi Def movie pl...
If you've never stopped to appreciate the game world you are playing in before this game, you need to go pick yourself up a copy of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus for the PS2 (if you own a PS3 that supports Backward Compatibility).
Since I just picked up COD4 and Halo 3, they are taking up a lot of my gaming time, I still havent picked up Uncharted because I think I will simply add it to my Gamerang list as a long-term rental.
